Content Strategy

The group meets on the second Thursday of each month, from noon – 1:00 p.m. in the Packard Engineering Building Room 312 to connect and share experiences and best practices.

What is content strategy? Kristina Halvorson, one of the leading advocates and practitioners of the discipline, has defined it as planning for the creation, delivery, and governance of useful, usable content.

If Stanford is one thing, it's a mountain of content. And all of that content not only comes in wildly different sizes, formats, and voices, but needs to travel to audiences all over the world while correctly displaying on a myriad of devices. The challenge (and solution) to making that magic happen at every level is Content Strategy.

We prioritize topics and activities of interest to those on the editorial/governance end of the Content Strategy spectrum (vs. the UX, development, and systems side). Staff who are likely to get the most out of group membership include:

  • editors and copywriters
  • content marketers
  • communications directors
  • information architects
  • designers
  • content engineers
